Professor Sławomir Szafert received his PhD from the University of Wrocław (Poland) in 1996, investigating “The correlation between the structure of TiCl4 complexes with esters of carboxylic acids and their activity in olefin polymerization process“ under the advisement of Prof. P. Sobota. He was subsequently awarded a fellowship from the Fulbright Foundation for postdoctoral research and joined the research group of J. A. Gladysz at the University of Utah. In 1999 he returned to Wroclaw to take an adjunct position at the Wrocław University. His scientific interests are focused on the asymmetric synthesis and catalysis, as well as organometallic chemistry. He was promoted as a Head of Research Group of Organometallic Chemistry and Functional Materials in 2013.
